Who we are
The Bed and Breakfast "Il Gelsomino" was born from an idea of Gianni Brass, to transform an apartment in the city centre in a fantastic B&B. We are located in Via Ombrone 24/B. Located on the first floor of a large apartment building, the B&B offers up 3 rooms. The breakfast room is located at the entrance with a wide choice of products in the morning-fresh and healthy. On request you can make use of the kitchen. Allowed access to the pet animals (Dogs and Cats).
Brief history of Montalto di Castro
For some historians, the " castrum Montis Alti was founded in V-VI century d.C. refugees from the coastal town Gravisca, which was destroyed by pirates. Others tell that the castle was founded in the VIII century by Desiderio, King of the Lombards. Both assumptions are not supported by documents. Montalto emerges from legend and enters history only in the'852 d.C.: in a bull of Pope Leo IV was addressed to the bishop of Tuscania, it appears, for the first time, the name Montis High.
